The last week saw calm sunny days as we left Dundee and cycled up the the Fife coast into Angus. Passing through Arbroath (Arbroath Smokies), Montrose then on to Stonehaven a hidden gem of a place. A historic fishing village nestling down out of view and the home of the famous deep fried mars bar!
We stayed in a studio apartment above the popular Aunty Betty’s Ice Cream Parlour – what more could you ask for. The Ice cream certainly won over the Mars bar!
The weather was perfect and I even got out the shorts for cycling – very brave. We then went through Aberdeen to a little village called Balmedie and then on to Peterhead, passing through Cruden Bay and Slains Castle – the home of Dracula!
We left Peterhead cycling along the old Buchan railway line – the Limey – as it is called. Oscar had a good run and swim in the river and we ended up in Banff/Macduff where we spent a couple of days R & R.
Sadly my son in law has taken a turn for the worse and has to go into hospital today for a serious operation. As a result Oscar and I are heading off tomorrow from Inverness by train to be with Susie over the next week. It is a very worrying and uncertain time so much support will be needed. We will be back the following week to continue up north. Regular updates will continue as usual.
Thank you all for your support.
