ONE WOMAN – ONE DOG – ONE BICYCLE – 5000 MILES
Starting in March 2015 from Aldeburgh in Suffolk I will be spending the summer months cycling around the coastline of Great Britain in aid of LLR ( LEUKAEMIA & LYMPHOMA RESEARCH ) and SANDS ( STILLBIRTH & NEONATAL DEATHS ). I will be covering approximately 5000 miles in the company of my faithful companion, Oscar, a 7 year old Golden Retriever who will be travelling in style in his own purpose built trailer. Oscar and I have already sailed halfway around the world so to leave him behind is not an option.
Inspired by Sport Relief, being of an adventurous spirit, and not shy of tackling a new challenge, I decided to take on this adventure which as a 65 year old mother of 4 and grandmother of 8 will be pushing my limits ! However, fundraising in aid of two very personal charities is at the heart of the trip which will be self-funded. I am aiming to raise £25.000 and donations will go directly to the charities.
Having sailed around the British coastline, including Scotland, it will be an inspirational and challenging experience to swap my sails for wheels and admire the sea from the shore. Based on ca 30 miles per day the whole trip should take approximately 5/6 months, weather, breakdowns, injuries etc permitting.
Any support that you may be able to provide to help promote my challenge would be greatly appreciated.
