We have ended the week with a real milestone – reaching Land’s End !
It has been a tough week travelling down through Cornwall – the holiday traffic seeming relentless. We visited some beautiful coastal towns along the way – the hills steep and the roads narrow and twisty but the effort was well worthwhile and the scenery stunning. The tall, steep craggy cliffs and sandy beaches, clear blue sea and secretive little coves – all made our journey very picturesque and enjoyable. We were also treated to some pods of Dolphins having fun in the bays showing off as they do to anyone who was watching.
Needless to say there had to be a stop or two to sample the local cream teas and ice creams – delicious !
Weather was good for most of the week although we had to stay put for one day as the rain was torrential with strong winds making it too dangerous to be out on the roads.
I had 2 visitors from Suffolk which was great fun – David cycled from Barnstaple to Clovelly with us and Mark joined us for the ride from Penzance to Land’s End. It was lovely to have the company and share a part of the trip – a real morale boost.
To have reached Land’s End is fantastic and from now it is ever eastwards back to Suffolk ( plus a little northwards too ) . Maybe I will at long last have the wind at my back – fingers crossed. Oscar continues to be in fine fettle and has had some lovely walks this week plus his usual swims in the sea. I think it is fair to say that we are both now looking forward to getting back home but need to stay focused for the remaining 5/6 weeks !
A big thank you once again to everyone for all your comments and support – it has been brilliant and certainly keeps me pedalling on to the end !
